I'm sitting in an excel class right now, on a wicked long lunch break. One perk of my job is them paying for courses to better your work. Thanks, Harmonix! Excel 2007 certification, here I come!

I'm so excited for christmas because i'm a 5-year-old. Really though, i love my family so much and i don't get to be with all of my sisters until Christmas, so needless to say it's a really positive time for me. That, and new vidja games to play with bronzemistral, WHO I NEVER SEE ENOUGH OF! :( it's okay though! i think i've just been missing my sisters a lot lately, and to only get a 60% dosage at thanksgiving made me miss playing games with jan. only a couple more weeks!

i've been thinking a lot about the future; proper investments, positive relationships, etc. i'm making babysteps to prepare for life, essentially, and with the recent discovery of a good friend's pregnancy, it made me think about those things a lot more and establish what my priorities are. i'd really like to get married within the next couple of years and buy a house within 6. all of these things are possible - i just need to stay focused financially. i'm extremely fortunate to have the job i do in this economy, and ideally i'd like to stay there for a long time. however, it's in my professional nature to be prepared and forsee any potential problems (so THAT'S why they put me in QA...), so I'm also that person who always has an updated resume handy. I don't look at this as an act of pessimism - it's entirely possible that any company could fold at any given time. I don't want that to be the reality, nor do i think it will be, but in the event that it ever does happen, i'll be ready for it, and whatever comes next won't affect my longterm plans. that much i'm determined to uphold.

i swear i really still use this. honest!

I've been making an effort to spend time with friends and family more. winter's tough because i'm all "i want to ball up into a blanket by myself and watch cartoons/play videogames." but why be that way, you know? I don't really have any reason to be so negative, so fuck it. i've started to rectify this by pushing myself which has made me feel better in so many area. i'm pushing myself to lose weight, to work harder at my job, to be more financially stable, and to spend time with people i want to maintain relationships with. i'm feeling better already.

i used to be so anxious and angry all the time. i would take it out on people i cared about, as well as myself, essentially - but i didn't really have a reason to be so anxious and angry. i wasted so much time worrying about all this crap. wicked stupid! although i do't think it's possible for anyone to be completely happy, but that's okay! as long as i'm as happy as i can be right now, right?

it's cold. i'm off to snuggle in a blanket and browse my netflix instant queue. bye!

I haven't updated in quite some time, so why not now!

RE5 was amazing! I started playing it through again, but then stopped. I'll pick it up again soon. It's weird how my perspective of gaming changed since I started working in the industry - I loved RE5 even more because I can see everything capcom went through while making it. Thanks Capcom!

On a related note, this Beatles game is almost done. Weird. Who's pumped for E3? This guy! Well, I'm pumped to stream it on IGN. I'm stoked for the reaction.

resident evil 5 is so damn GOOD.

i broke down and bought a japanese copy for ps3. my favorite part is that it comes with a little USB flashdrive in the shape of a chainsaw, paired with a tiny print-out disclaimer essentially saying that it may or may not work. nice.

anyway, i'm posting my first thoughts behind a cut so i don't ruin the surprise for anyone, but i just need to write about this game.

so it feels just like resident evil 4, which is awesome, because that was a very well done game. the HUD is easy to read, and thanks to games being developed in widescreen it doesn't look cluttered. i'm still getting used to live menus like in dead space, but thanks to quick inventory switch on the d-pad, this isn't super difficult. my only problem now is remembering which items i assign to which direction. there is no weapons merchant; instead you can choose to upgrade or purchase from a general menu that is available at the end of chapters or at the beginning of a checkpoint if you die. i'll miss the merchant, but at least you can still upgrade weapons.

the AI is awesome, and the ganados are fast, which makes the game much more exciting. sheva's AI, however, is a different story.

the co-op is very solid, as portrayed in the demo, but playing single-player is going to be DAMN hard. sheva is just pure stupid, and she fires at nothing. literally, nothing. i started pushing a bookshelf to block a door (Public Assembly) and sheva just starts shooting wildy at it. her reticle was on the wall. THE WALL. seriously sheva? there weren't even ganados in the room! robblerobblerobble... split screen/local co-op is good if you have a big enough TV, but i don't reccommend it if you have anything smaller than a 40" TV. it drops each screen down to about 13 or 14 inches, and isn't really split-screen considering there are borders everywhere. not awful, just don't love it really.

i can't get a good sense of it yet, since i've only completed 2 chapters, but the amount of time on the first 2 chapters was drastically different. the first chapter is only about 15 minutes long, while the next is about an hour. i'm hoping that this fluxation was only a one time thing. regardless, it's going to be a loooong game.

okay, so resident evil: degeneration is out of control. reasons below:

1) the lipsyncing art is HORRIBLE. this movie is essentially a 120 minute cutscene, and the mouths don't match the dialogue at all. i can't stand it. it looks more natural in the games than this 'movie.'

2) i don't know why capcom feels the need to give claire a constant small child to look after. clearly she and leon just need to have a child to fill all of this maternal frustration.

3) the slow motion gun scene. it was awesome in RE:CV, it was kinda cool is the first Milla Jovovich RE movie, but enough. stop beating a dead horse.

4) claire and leon haven't seen each other for 7 years and there's no talk of the development that happened in europe? what?? also, what the hell has claire been doing? oh, right, finding little girls to fill the sherry void. obviously.

4) the music is clearly a batman soundtrack.

5) hunnigan's outfit hasn't changed since RE4.

6) terrorists? srsly?

I'm not even done with this piece of crap yet. awesome.

nicole and i are finally getting settled into the apartment. we've been working on the finishing touches, like putting art on the walls and FINALLY deciding where all of the furniture is going. but now that we have the TV stand and all the components good to go, i just have to finish cleaning up some wires, and then i'll be satisfied.

i bought a harmony remote and it makes me happy. well, once I have it all calibrated and whatnot, it will make me really happy. now i just need to pick up an IR receiver for my PS3 and i'll be golden.

... I don't really have anything else to update. I think i'm just REALLY happy with my TV and needed to speak about it openly.

first day of not being supervised! things went well. i got a bigger desk :) i need to decorate with my resident evil 4 figures.

i like my job a lot. dare say i love it, but i don't think one day in on my own is a good amount of time to judge. it can get really stressful really fast, but even so, i think about it at the end of the day and think 'i work at harmonix' and it's pretty excellent.

started looking at apartments. nothing to serious, but just to get an idea of what i will be able to afford. it also means a lot of stuff will be packed up and stored in the attic and/or on my desk at work. either way, i'm definitely looking to stay local, most likely quincy/wollaston. i like the red line too much.

i'm so pumped to play resident evil tomorrow. i wish 5 was coming out in like 3 days. i can't WAIT for that game.

hey look i got gerbils!
